JOURNALISM & PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD FINALISTS ANNOUNCED

ABC Gippsland, the Geelong Advertiser, the Horsham Times and The Weekly Times will vie for the prestigious media outlet of the year title at this year’s Rural Press Club of Victoria annual journalism and photography awards.

The club announced finalists in 15 categories today ahead of a virtual presentation to be hosted by the ABC’s Kath Sullivan next Thursday, September 10 at 5pm.

The finalists and winners of the prestigious Journalist of the Year, Ray Frawley Young Journalist of the Year and Photographer of the Year awards will be announced at next week’s presentation ceremony. The awards recognise the best work of 2019-20.

Rural Press Club of Victoria president James Wagstaff said the club was embracing the challenge of moving its award ceremony online, for the first time in the organisation’s history.

“Now more than ever we need to spend time together, celebrating the hard work of regional and rural journalists and photographers.  I encourage everyone to attend and support the work of their colleagues, and the wider regional media community.”

James Wagstaff, President, Rural Press Club of Victoria
