The West Gippsland Art Centre at night

Tickets for rural media’s night of nights now on sale

As judges comb through hundreds of entries from newsrooms statewide, the Rural Press Club of Victoria is today delighted to launch ticket sales for the annual 2025 Rural & Regional Journalism and Photography Awards presentation dinner.

RPCV president Alex Sinnott said at a time of digital disruption, celebrating the best of regional newsgathering was more important than ever.

“From this impressive pack of entries, winners will be announced at our annual gala dinner which is a fitting celebration of the role the media plays in rural communities,” Alex said.

This year the function will be held in Warragul – the first time that the event has been held in Gippsland – continuing the club’s commitment to hosting the awards in regional Victoria.

“Our previous events in Bendigo, Ballarat and Geelong have been hugely successful, and we look forward to taking the celebration to Warragul in October.”

Tickets cost $130 for members, $120 for students/cadets and $150 for non-members, inclusive of a three-course meal with drinks included.

“I strongly encourage anyone who wants to support the media’s role in connecting and informing rural and regional communities to secure their ticket.”

Finalists will be announced in early October.

Inaugural Journalism Scholarship

Also open until the end of this week is the Inaugural Journalism Scholarship. The recipient must be a journalist or photographer currently working in regional and rural Victoria and hold a valid passport to travel abroad.

Entries close August 30. Learn more about the Journalism Scholarship.
