Journalism Scholarship

Inaugural Journalism Scholarship Open

For the first time in its almost 60-year-history, the Rural Press Club of Victoria is offering a scholarship to a journalist or photographer who lives and works in regional and rural Victoria. This will allow them to undertake a study tour that will elevate regional journalism by covering an interstate or international issue or event, or attending a conference for professional development.

Rural Press Club of Victoria president Alex Sinnott said the inaugural RPCV journalism scholarship was an exciting opportunity for regional Victoria’s best and brightest to take their talents to the world.

“Over the course of many months, the Rural Press Club of Victoria board has worked hard to tailor a generous scholarship that’s fit-for-purpose for newsbreakers of the 2020s,” he said.

“With resources tight across traditional media, this scholarship recognises that journalistic talent needs a hand up to access educational and creative opportunities abroad.

“Whether the destination is Chicago or Santiago, Bahrain or Spain; this exciting scholarship provides a ticket to a world of journalistic opportunities.”

The winning journalist or photographer will have their flights, accommodation, all agenda items including a daily meal allowance, land transportation related to the program and event entry covered up to the value of $6000.
